About the Company
HomeWell is a new home healthcare startup based in Virginia Beach. We are currently in the initial licensure phase with the Virginia Department of Health. Our mission is to provide high-quality, unskilled personal care services (ADLs, companionship, and meal prep) to seniors in the Hampton Roads area. We are looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve as our provisional Nursing Director and help build our clinical foundation, leading our caregiver team.
The Opportunity: Phase 1 (Licensing)
This position begins as a consulting role to facilitate our state application. You will be the named Nursing Director on our Virginia Home Care Organization license application.
*Responsibilities: Provide credentials (RN license, resume) for the VDH application; review and sign off on initial policy manuals; be present for the state’s initial on-site licensure survey.
Workload: Minimal administrative tasks (approximately 2–8 hours during the entire process).
The Opportunity: Phase 2 (Operational)
Once our license is approved (typically 6–9 months), the role will transition to clinical oversight.
*Responsibilities: Conduct initial client assessments (non-medical); develop Plans of Service; provide 90-day supervisory visits for Personal Care Aides (PCAs); and conduct skills competency check-offs for new hires.
Compensation Structure
*We believe in compensating for expertise and the "standing-by" nature of a startup role:
*Initial Appointment Fee: $500.00 flat fee paid upon signing the Letter of Intent and submission of the VDH application.
*Monthly Compliance Retainer: $200.00 per month paid while the application is pending (covers your "on-call" status for state queries and the initial survey).
*Future Operational Pay:
Initial Client Assessments: $50– $75 per visit
90-Day Supervisory Visits: $45 – $65 per visit
Caregiver Skills Training: $40 – $48 per hour
Candidate Requirements
*To meet Virginia’s 12VAC5-381-170 regulatory requirements, candidates must possess:
*Active RN License: Must be in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing.
Experience:
*Minimum of one (1) year of experience in home health care, long-term care, or a related field. (Preferred but not required)
*Leadership: Prior supervisory or administrative experience is highly preferred.
*Regulatory Savvy: Familiarity with Virginia OLC home care regulations is a major plus.
*Entrepreneurial Spirit: You are comfortable being the first clinician at a startup and helping shape our culture.
