Mowing Crew Technician under the supervision of the Crew Leader and Production Manager.
The goal of this position is to deliver consistent, high-quality mowing services safely, efficiently, and on schedule while maintaining a professional company image.
Daily Preparation & Organization
- Arrive on time and prepared for dispatch at the scheduled start of the workday.
- Inspect assigned equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers) for proper function and cleanliness before departure.
- Load trucks and trailers with all tools, fuel, and materials required for the day’s route.
- Ensure all necessary safety gear (eye protection, ear protection, gloves, reflective vests) is worn and available.
- Assist the Crew Leader in verifying route sheets, client notes, and property details before leaving the shop.
Mowing & Trimming Operations
- Operate zero-turn, stand-on, or walk-behind mowers safely and efficiently.
- Follow mowing patterns and cutting heights as defined by company standards and client requirements.
- Trim around trees, flower beds, fences, and other obstacles using string trimmers.
- Edge sidewalks, driveways, and curbs neatly for a finished appearance.
- Use blowers to remove debris from hard surfaces after mowing.
- Maintain consistent mowing quality — no uneven cuts, scalping, or untrimmed areas.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
- Clean mowers, trimmers, and blowers daily after use to prevent buildup and corrosion.
- Check oil, fuel, tire pressure, and blades each morning and report any issues immediately.
- Sharpen or replace blades as instructed by the Crew Leader or Mechanic.
- Refuel all equipment safely at designated areas following company procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety issues to the Crew Leader immediately.
- Assist with end-of-day cleanup and safe equipment storage.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements at all times.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including eye and ear protection.
- Remain aware of pedestrians, vehicles, and property obstacles while operating equipment.
- Follow all traffic laws and site-specific safety guidelines when working near roads or driveways.
- Maintain a safe working distance from coworkers when using powered equipment.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents immediately to the Crew Leader or Production Manager.
- Job Quality & Efficiency
- Complete assigned properties within time targets while maintaining company quality standards.
- Pay attention to detail — no missed trimming, grass clumps, or debris left behind.
- Follow the route plan and property notes to ensure consistent service for recurring clients.
- Take initiative to identify and correct minor quality issues before leaving a property.
- Communicate with the Crew Leader about property-specific challenges or damage concerns.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Represent the company positively at all times on job sites and in the community.
- Greet customers courteously if approached and direct all questions to the Crew Leader.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance (uniform, clean equipment, no visible trash).
- Respect client property — avoid damaging turf, sprinklers, garden beds, or outdoor decor.
- Support team culture of pride, respect, and accountability in all work performed.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work cooperatively with Crew Leader and other technicians to complete daily routes.
- Follow direction and communicate clearly regarding tasks and expectations.
- Assist teammates with loading/unloading, cleanup, and job completion.
- Participate in daily morning meetings and end-of-day debriefs.
- Share observations about route efficiency, safety hazards, or client needs.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in ongoing training on equipment operation, safety, and mowing techniques.
- Strive to increase productivity without sacrificing quality or safety.
- Provide feedback on tools, processes, or improvements that could benefit the team.
- Take initiative to learn new equipment and service types (e.g., leaf cleanup, mulching, pruning).
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and teamwork to advance within the company.
