Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Supporting Adults with Disabilities (Yorktown and/or Williamsburg, VA)
About the Role
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and mission‑driven Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person‑centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. DSPs play a vital role in helping individuals build skills, increase independence, and live meaningful, self‑directed lives.
What You’ll Do
Provide respectful, person‑centered support in accordance with each individual’s service plan
Assist with daily living skills: meal prep, hygiene, mobility, household tasks, and community engagement
Support individuals in building independence, communication, and social skills
Implement behavior, safety, and support plans as trained
Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reports
Transport individuals safely to appointments, activities, and community outings
Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care teams
Uphold dignity, choice, and rights of all individuals served
What We’re Looking For
A caring, patient, and dependable professional who values dignity and inclusion
Ability to work independently and follow structured support plans
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Comfortable supporting individuals with varying physical, behavioral, or medical needs
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record
Ability to pass background checks required by Virginia DMAS and DBHDS
CPR/First Aid
Experience in human services, home care, or disability support is preferred but not required — we provide training
Schedule & Pay
Flexible part‑time and full‑time shifts
