Our little girl is 3 and baby boy will be 1 on May 30th; our oldest (girl) is 12 & will be in camp and with her friends 90% of the time so it’s really the little two we need watching over. We do also have an 8 year old dog (lab mix, rescue mutt) who you may need to let outside once in a while, but not a set “duty” to watch/walk/care for him.
You may have/find a job outside the house; we can coordinate our schedules so that you may make more money/enough money to get through the next school year, etc. There are many shops, restaurants, hotels, and businesses in walking/biking distance from the house in terms of an outside job and I am happy to provide a reference for you. You could also potentially baby sit/nanny for any of the other ZILLION families on our street/in our neighborhood. I don’t even mind if you have our kids plus one or two more from our neighborhood during the same hours as to “double-up” on earnings potential. I am working part time at a local country club and my hiring manager has said they would be willing to give hiring preference to my nanny should they desire to work in the banquets/catering department ($7.50 + tips/hour) over the summer (7 miles away/15 min drive). And, one of my neighbors is willing to hire whomever we hire to work in her local smoothie/sandwich shop ($8+ tips/hour) which is in walking distance to the house.
We live on the Chesapeake Bay beach end of VA Beach (Ft Story/Cape Story area) and actually have a beach access at the end of our road onto the Bay beach – vs. the ocean beach but that is only like 3 miles down the road or along the bike path. You would have your own room with a full/queen bed, a phone & computer (Fios included) - we may add a tv if you would like or bring your own and we will pay for the cable to get run in there. You will have an outside entrance on your living level (2nd) so that you may come and go as you please when not working without feeling too ‘watched over’. There is a full rec room/playroom with a tv & dvd/vhs on the same level as the bedroom & bath as well as a small working kitchen. You would share a bathroom with our 12 year old; the babies take a bath in there too, but you would have your own cupboard/shelf space that they can’t get into. You may have friends over to visit and we live in a very social neighborhood with happy hours, cookouts, etc going on all the time. You would not need to bring linens or towels, or beach equip. – we have all that.
You may also (potentially – not guaranteed) bring a friend (but NOT your amorous boyfriend/girlfriend/lover/partner) along to share the job/summer at the beach but the hours and pay would remain the same (20 hours/$60 total per week).
