Tutoring Session:

Wondering what you would expect in a typical tutoring session? Each individual session is tailored for each individual child. The first tutoring session I start off with some ice breaker activities to put your child at ease and to familiarize myself with your child�s interests. I will also do some type of math or reading assessment to know strengths and weaknesses of your child. Knowing each individual child helps me to plan meaningful and appropriate lessons. Each individual student has different needs and I adapt my teaching style to each individual student. Many children learn best when they are able to engage in a meaningful activity. After the first lesson I try my best to plan lessons that will engage your child so that they will gain meaning out of each lesson. A typical math lesson will involve teaching a skill, then practicing several together, and then having the child apply the skill. A typical reading lesson will involve reading a familiar book (one read in a previous lesson), introduction of a new story and new vocabulary, the student reading the book (stopping at various parts), answering questions about the story (either verbally or written), and some type of activity that corresponds with the book.

Any work that is completed in the tutoring session will be placed in a binder that will be yours to keep at the end of the tutoring session. If you would like I can provide �homework� for the child to complete to reinforce the lesson.

I recently graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with over 25 Spanish credits, with a 4.0 GPA in all of those classes. I have served at an orphanage/school in Guadalupe, Mexico for a total of 14 weeks in the past 5 years where I practically breathed the Spanish language. I also have past tutoring experience.

This coming school year, I will be teaching a middle school introductory Spanish class, as well as Spanish 1, 2, and 3 at a homeschool enrichment program at my church.
I have a flexible schedule, can meet you at a library or even Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, etc. Or, if you are a younger student and don't have a ride, I may be able to come to you for a small extra fee.

ATTENTION BEGINNER THROUGH ADVANCED STUDENTS!! AGES 4 to 94!!!
I am now scheduling private violin lessons for the '09-10 school year. I recently graduated with a B.A. in violin performance from Virginia Wesleyan College and I have been teaching both private and group lessons for over 7 years.
I teach SUZUKI, lots of sight-reading to supplement, IRISH and BLUEGRASS FIDDLE music, fun Disney songs, and pretty much anything else you could think of. I tailor each student's curriculum to their strenghts/weaknesses and also their likes/dislikes :)
I can also assist my students with learning their SCHOOL ORCHESTRA PARTS as well!
Payment is on a month-to-month basis, with 4 lessons per month. There are two options for lesson length- 30 minutes or 60 minutes. (I recommend 30 for beginners and 60 for intermediate to advanced students)
30 minute lessons will cost $80/mo. and 60 minute lessons cost $135/mo.
I MAY ALSO BE ABLE TO COME TO YOU for a small extra fee each month!

Training a dog is a process NOT an event. It is crucial for your dog to respond to your commands no matter what the distractions may be. In an �off-leash� situation this can be the matter of life and death. I will train your dog a foundation of basic obedience. This consists of Sit, Down, Wait, Leave it, Heel (no pulling) and Come. After this foundation is achieved we can then move on to other issues and or behavior problems your dog may have. Or perhaps you would like your dog trained for Protection Work or Search and Rescue.
I have trained dogs my entire life. I share a very close bond with them and have had great success with each dog that I have trained. Please remember that each dog has his or her own personality and learning curve. It is NOT breed specific! Some dogs can learn a task in 5 or 10 minutes, another dog may require a week to learn the same task. But given the proper motivation and patience your dog can achieve anything!
